If you want to listen to Fire Department action in the Los Angeles area, here are the frequencies of a few of the local agencies. Most of the fire agencies in Los Angeles County still use conventional analog radios, any of the scanners on the market should be able to receive the transmissions. Some departments in LA have transitioned to Trunked, Digital Trunked or Encrypted systems for more secure communications so LA county is shown in Orange on the map below. Shown in Green on the map, other counties near LA: Kern County(to the North of LA County), Riverside County(to the Southeast of LA County) & Ventura County(to the Northwest of LA County) use conventional analog radios. Shown in Red on the map, both Orange County (to the South of LA County) and San Bernardino County (to the East of LA County) as well as San Diego County further to the South have all gone over to trunked systems.
We try to keep the information current for the Conventional Analog systems on the pages linked below, for systems that have gone over to trunking, no new information is available on those pages. If you want or need trunking information, there are other radio resources on the web that are able to keep up to date on that information. If you have new information or more data for any of the Conventional Analog systems in other surrounding areas and want to be the editor of a page for that system, contact us for more information.
The CFPA is looking for scanner frequency editors. If you know the frequencies that are in use in your area and are willing to keep that information updated for us, let us know.
